Mike: In other words, Nev was at a barbecue in Cerritos all day Saturday and lost track of time.

Nev: Well, Mike was busy making shadow puppets with his visiting uncle.

Mike: Well, Nev insisted on going to the Dodger game on Sunday.

Nev: Well, Mike still hasn't gotten around to getting his driver's license since he moved back to town.

Mike: Well, Nev uses too much gel in his hair!!

Nev: Well, Mike has no fashion sense!!

Mike: Well, Nev is technologically MORONIC!!!!

Nev: Well, Mike went to a LIBERAL ARTS COLLEGE!!!!

(pause)

(Mike's lower lip begins to quiver)

Nev: Oh geez Mike, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have gone there.

Mike: Then why did you say it?

Nev: I don't know, it was just a heat-of-the-moment thing. I didn't mean it.

Mike: There's nothing wrong with going to a liberal arts college.

Nev: No, none at all. You got a good education.

Mike: I worked hard in school.

Nev: You did, Mike, you did. And we were all proud of you.

Mike: Really?

Nev: Yeah.

(pause)

Mike: Oh Nev, why do we always hurt each other so?

Nev: Because I think it's easier than saying what you really feel.

Mike: You're right.

Nev: Yeah.

(pause)

Mike: You wanna hug?

(pause)

Nev: No.
